Warner Bros. Pictures’ upcoming film slate for 2017 includes more shared universe installments (not all of them of the DC superhero variety), as well as a potential franchise starter in the form of King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. Korean news site MK Business News (via Reuters) is reporting that Samsung will make 75% of the A9 chip for the next iPhone. This matches an earlier detailed prediction by KGI Research, which stated that the balance of the chips would be made by Global Foundry, and is in line with a statement by Samsung which last year confirmed it as a major supplier of the new chip. The Samsung-fabbed chips will, says the report, be made in the USA … MK Business News says that Samsung will make the chips in its plant in Austin, Texas....

Lakeith Stanfield dressed up as the Clown Prince of Crime for DC’s Joker movie premiere. Despite being separate from the DC Extended Universe (not the official name), Joker has managed to generate a whole lot of buzz ahead of its release next week. Of late, though, the Joker-related headlines have tended to be more about the controversy surrounding the film than the actual movie. Warner Bros. has already responded to the backlash against Joker’s violence in a statement, assuring that the film is not “an endorsement of real-world violence of any kind”....

OnePlus today started the rollout of OxygenOS Open Beta 17/18 for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. The latest beta brings about a number of new features and enhancements along with the May Android Security patch level. Reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is out today with a new note highlighting his predictions for the 2020 iPhone lineup including the all-new form factor. Well known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who now works for TF International Securities, believes that Apple’s future growth will depend on the release of Apple Car and AR glasses, in addition to the company’s consistently growing services business. The analyst says that the Apple Car will launch sometime in 2023-2025. Apple’s car hardware has been rumored for quite sometime now, dating back half a decade. The rumors have fluctuated over the years with some noting that Apple is purely focused on software and licensing its autonomous software to third-party manufacturers, similar to how CarPlay works, while others note that Apple is still very much focused on creating both the hardware and software experience, which is what Kuo is suggesting here....

We’re likely just a few weeks away from Apple’s iPhone event, and Ming-Chi Kuo has released his latest predictions. The supply chain analyst echoes his long-running prediction of three new iPhones announced during the week of September 9, but Kuo believes only the two OLED models will actually be released next month. Citing its production schedule, Kuo predictions that the 6.1-inch iPhone, expected to be the entry-priced model in the flagship lineup, will indeed ship “slightly later” than the two OLED models that Kuo says will be available in September....
