What Kumho tire warranty cover? 

Kumho offers its customers different types of tire warranty as indicated below. 

The original equipment tire warranty The replacement equipment tire warranty 

These warranties cover both the passenger and light truck tires. Kumho tire warranty covers manufacturers’ defects on the tire that were caused by poor workmanship or poor quality materials during the manufacture of the tire. 

In the original equipment tire warranty, the customer gets free replacement of the tire and Kumho will also pay for balancing and mounting of the tires. If the tire does not qualify for a free replacement, Kumho provides customers with credit to purchase a new tire and the customer pays for the cost of mounting and balancing the tire. 

For the replacement equipment tire warranty, if the tire is tread damage is not more than 2/32” and it has been in use for less than six years from the date of purchase for the passenger vehicle tire and light truck tire and less than five years for the commercial truck tire, Kumho will replace the tire free of charge and the owner pays for the taxes, mounting and balancing of the tire. 

Exclusions in Kumho tire warranty 

The original equipment tire warranty 

If the tread of the tire wears out irregularly it is excluded from the warranty hence the customer will have to pay for its replacement. If a customer receives the tire from the original vehicle and fits it is in another vehicle then the tire is damaged, it will not be covered in the warranty.   Kumho tire warranty does not cover the cost of lost time due to tire damage. Hence the customer is to cover such costs if tire damage happens. If the tire tread worn-out is more than 2/32” it is not covered in the warranty. The customer is forced to incur the cost of tire repair or replacement.     Kumho warranty does not apply to tires that are beyond their warranty periodThe warranty is not transferable; it only covers the original owner or the original purchaser of the tire.  

The replacement equipment tire warranty 

Kumho tire warranty does not apply to vehicles used outside the United States.   Not applicable to tire tread worn out more than 2/32” The cost of mounting and tire balancing is excluded in the warranty hence the customer should be ready to cover this cost if the tire will need to be mounted and balanced.  Kumho warranty does not apply to irregular tire wear caused by a road hazard, under-inflation, improper use of the tire, fire, overloading, etc.  The tire that has not been rotated at least every 5, 000 to 7, 500 is not covered under the Kumho replacement equipment tire warranty. Hence the customer needs to make sure the tire has been rotated as indicated in the owner’s manual to qualify for the warranty in case of tire damage.  Warranty does not time the cost of time lost during the tire damage If a customer uses the tire for racing or commercial activities it is struck out of the warrantyWarranty does not cover damages to tires due to vandalism. Hence the customer needs to be careful of where they park their vehicle as the cost will entirely be upon them if the tire is vandalized.

Conclusion 

The customer during the purchase of the tire is informed of the existence of the tire warranty in place and advised to read and understand it. Kumho customers get to enjoy a warranty on the tires they purchase from Kumho or Kumho partners whenever they get damaged. The tires are replaced or repaired free of charge or at a reduced cost to the customer making customers satisfied with the customer service they receive at the time when they need it. The warranty stipulates what needs to be done if tire damage occurs, where the customer needs to take their tire for repair or replacement, and the period it will take to replace or repair.
